Small Business First Fridays

The Small Business First GSA Interact community is abuzz with the latest announcement from Brandy Wynn: “Small Business First Fridays: How a Subcontracting Plan Can Benefit You!” This virtual training session, hosted by the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), is a must-attend event for small business owners looking to make their mark in federal contracting.

Scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time, this webinar promises to empower small businesses with the knowledge and tools to navigate subcontracting opportunities effectively. Subcontracting has long been a game-changer for small and disadvantaged businesses, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to federal procurement while building strong industry relationships.

Why Subcontracting Matters

Subcontracting offers small businesses a chance to participate in federal prime contracts, a significant avenue for growth and collaboration. Under Public Law 95-507 and subsequent mandates, large prime contractors awarded federal contracts valued over $750,000 ($1.5 million for construction) must establish plans and goals to subcontract with small businesses. This includes small disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, HUBZone firms, and women-owned small businesses. These subcontracting plans are a cornerstone of the federal government’s commitment to fostering economic inclusivity and diversity.

What You’ll Learn

This session will provide invaluable insights into:

  • When a Subcontracting Plan Is Required: Understand the scenarios where a subcontracting plan is mandatory.

  • Developing a Subcontracting Plan: Gain access to tips, tools, and best practices to craft a compelling and compliant plan.

  • Components of a Subcontracting Plan: Learn about the essential elements that make up a successful plan.

  • Finding Subcontracting Opportunities: Discover how to identify and leverage opportunities to grow your business.

Meet the Experts

The training will be led by two esteemed presenters from GSA OSDBU: Rob Reyes and Jemeek Morris. Their combined expertise in small business advocacy and federal contracting will provide attendees with actionable strategies to succeed in the competitive federal marketplace.
